Burnage Second XV had a superb season last year and were promoted as Champions for the second consecutive year. This season we face a much tougher challenge in The Miller Homes Division 2 league. The opposition will be of a much higher standard and so, we must prepare accordingly. The nucleus of last season's team is still present along with some exciting new additions. Thanks must go to Ryan and Cluckie for excellent work over the last few seasons to get the team into this position. It is our job to carry on this good work and take Burnage 2's to a new level.
Our main aim to is ensure that the best 18 players are in the first team squad and to provide a competitive environment that brings the best out of the next 18 players so that there is competition for places in every position. The transition between firsts and seconds must be as smooth as possible so that we are able to move players between teams either to hone their skills or to grab the chance to make the shirt theirs. The testing level of rugby played in the Miller Homes 2nd Division will provide an excellent opportunity to strengthen the Burnage ranks.
I look forward to working closely with new coaches Wayne and Oli and also our first team manage Scott Redmond to provide the "best of Burnage" for both the Firsts and the Seconds.
After two wins in our first two games we are under no illusions about the tests that lie ahead but we are ready to give 100% for club and comrades.
